YDS Private Lessons and Preparation

YDS is an 80-question, 10-section English exam administered by ÖSYM; It measures English at an academic level through vocabulary, grammar, translation and reading. In one-on-one preparation, we first determine your level, then create a study plan according to your target score and exam date: you learn the logic of each question type and make vocabulary and translation practice a regular part of your work.

What kind of exam is YDS?

YDS consists of 80 multiple choice questions in a single session lasting approximately 180 minutes; Each question has 5 options and no additional points are deducted for incorrect answers. The result is scored between 0–100 and the ÖSYM band is evaluated as 90 and above A, 80–89 B, 70–79 C, 60–69 D, 50–59 E. The ten sections of the exam are divided into the following groups:

No additional points are deducted for incorrect answers; Leaving it blank and marking it incorrectly are the same in terms of scoring.

0–100 points, bands A–E

The result is scored between 0–100; ÖSYM band corresponds to 90 and above A, 80–89 B, 70–79 C, 60–69 D, 50–59 E.

Vocabulary, grammar and fill in the blanks

Vocabulary from context, grammar / structure, paragraph gap filling and sentence completion questions constitute the first parts of the exam.

The largest section is 20 reading questions: main idea, detail and inference questions based on five different texts.

Translation

6 English-Turkish and Turkish-English translation questions require practice in quickly finding the correct translation between two languages.

Dialogue and text structure

Questions on completing the dialogue, rephrasing, completing the paragraph and finding the sentence that breaks the integrity of the meaning close the exam.

How are YDS courses taught?

Lessons start with level assessment; Once your current level and target score are clarified, the study plan is established accordingly. You study each question type with its own logic and systematically analyze your mistakes.

Practice-exam results are evaluated not only by score, but also by the reason for each mistake; the revision plan is updated accordingly.

At what level can YDS preparation be started?

You can start from any level. At the first meeting, your current level and target score are evaluated; It is determined accordingly whether the focus will be on basic English or direct exam question types at the beginning.

Is there a penalty for errors in YDS?

No. In YDS, no additional points are deducted for wrong answers; The question left blank and the question marked incorrectly are the same in terms of scoring.

What is the difference between YDS and e-YDS?

YDS is applied on paper, e-YDS is applied on the computer. The question structure and the skills measured are based on the same framework; The institution to which the application is made determines which application is accepted.

How long does it take to reach the target score?

Duration varies depending on your current level, target score, exam date and weekly study schedule. After the level assessment, we draw up a realistic study schedule based on your strengths and areas for development.
